Cowboy Boots

Hi Everyone,

Today I have a quick and easy card to share with you that features the new Better in Cowboy Boots greeting. My niece's husband is always wearing his cowboy boots (even for their wedding ceremony) and I immediately thought of him when I saw this new greeting. So my card today is on the masculine side in his honor.

I stamped the new greeting and Cowboy Garb image with black ink onto white CS and die cut with nesties. The Cowboy Garb image was colored with various shades of gray Copics (C1,3,5 &7). Both were layered onto matching gray CS and then on black. The large gray panel was dry embossed with a TH EF that reminds me of rope, even though it is lined up in perfect squares???

TMS Challenge

I've been away all week visiting family and just had time to quickly create a card for this week's TMS Challenge. I need a get well card for someone very special, so this is for her. Here's this week's awesome sketch.

And here's my card.

I tweaked the sketch a little to fit my images. Hope that is ok. I started with some water color paper and sponged TH Distress Oxide inks onto it. Next I stamped my background with water. I like the soft impression this technique creates. The greeting and swirl of butterflies are from the Get Well set by Our Daily Bread Designs. They too were stamped with TH Distress Oxide inks. The butterfly swirl doesn't show up as well in this photo as it does in real life. I like the way the oxide inks stamp on darker CS. Some ribbon and rhinestones complete the look.

Dropping you a Line

Hi Everyone,

Hope you had a great weekend! Today I am on my way to VA to visit with family and celebrate some birthdays. It's always fun to celebrate with family. My card today features two new stamps from DRS Designs: Dropping you a line greeting and the Silhouette Palm Trees. I just can't get enough of this new palm tree image. It is so fun to use!

I started with some watercolor paper, stamped the silhouette palm trees with Versafine Onyx ink, heat embossed with clear EP and then used various TH Distress Oxide inks to create the sky and water. Once the inks dried I stamped the greeting with Versafine Onyx ink. The proud fisherman was stamped into white CS with Memento black ink, colored with Copics and fussy cut. The frame was die cut with nesties and sponged with the same distress inks as the sky. Before attaching it to the card base I stamped the fishing pole with Verafine Onyx ink. The fisherman and his catch were added with foam squares.

Here's a look at the inside of the card:

The big mouth bass was stamped with distress ink and the Good things come greeting was stamped with Versafine Onyx ink.

Thanks for stopping by today. Be sure to check out all the new images at DRS Designs.

60th B'day Wishes

My card today is for a friend who is turning 60. I used this week's sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches to create this fun card.

Here's the sketch from TMS:

And here's my card:

I used my Cricut to cut out the 60, washi tape for the background and some square black sequins for the added bling. The small Happy Birthday greeting is part of a larger greeting from DRS Designs. It's a fun sketch to work with and I believe my friend will like this. I was only going to use black and white washi tape, but decided it needed a little color so I added the small flower tape. I like it.

Wild Thing?

Well this card turned into something totally different than I had envisioned. But I think I like it. When I received the new Pretty Bird Odie, the Parrot I knew I wanted to color him to look like an African Grey Parrot. When we lived in Germany we babysat an African Grey for friends for a year and fell in love with that bird. Her name was Gabby and we thought that was because she was from Gabon, West Africa. We soon learned the real reason for her name. That bird could gab! She had lived in France for a while so she spoke some French. She always told us good night in French and she would whistle the French National Anthem. She was so good at imitating voices. She soon learned to call my husband's name in my voice and my name in his. She had us answering and looking for each other all the time!  The kids taught her to say "Eat me, yum!" Not sure the owners appreciated that new phrase. Anyway, in honor of Gabby my parrot is an African Grey.

I started by stamping, coloring and fussy cutting Odie and Jimbo and the gang. To make it look like a jungle I die cut a bunch of leaves from various shades of green CS as well as some from yellow and orange CS. The Markers Mart Die of the Month kit for July was tropical leaves. Talk about good timing! So after die cutting all the leaves, I die cut a green frame and partially glued it onto the kraft card base. I added Jimbo and the gang and then began placing all the leaves where I wanted. I had no intention of adding so many, but it kind of took on a life of its own. Once I had things where I wanted I started gluing everything down with TH Multi Matte Medium. The last thing I did was stamp Wild Thing onto kraft CS and die cut it with a banner die.

I stamped Odie on the inside with VersaMark ink and added the "It's a Jungle Out There" greeting.

Well I hope you like my African Grey Parrot with his jungle friends. Be sure to check the DRS Designs on line store for all the new images, including Pretty Bird Odie.

Tuesday Morning Christmas Challenge

Hi everyone,

I'm sharing another card today. This one I created for this week's Tuesday Morning Sketch Challenge. I also used the colors from this week's Color Challenge at Split Coast Stampers.  Here's the sketch from TMS, followed by my card.

The wreath and bow were die cut from Old Olive and gold CS using a Cheery Lynn Christmas die set. The Christmas Blessings was stamped with VersaMark ink onto cream CS and heat embossed with gold EP. I sponged a little VersaMark around the edges of my greeting strip and embossed it with gold EP too. The large green panel was embossed with a Paper Studio Christmas tree EF. I added some tiny gold half pearls to the wreath after everything was attached to the card base.

Cupcake Inspiraiton

Today I have a card I created for this week's Cupcake Inspiration Challenge.  Here's the yummy cupcake for inspiration.

And here's my card:

I just purchased My Favorite Things "You're the Sweetest" stamp and die set, so when I saw this Cupcake I had to try out the stamps and dies to create a cupcake. I think it turned out pretty well. The "straw" is part of the North Pole Sign from DRS Designs. I stamped it onto white CS, colored with Copics and fussy cut it out. Everything else was stamped and die cut. I added some glossy accents to the cherry. It really shines in real life. Baker's twine and sequins complete the look.

butterflies

I hope you all had a great weekend and were able to get inky! I have two cards to share with you today. The first one features the new Life is Measured Greeting.

I started by cutting a partial ring out of the white panel using two nestie circles dies. The remaining pieces were glued onto a black card base, leaving the partial ring black. The butterflies were die cut from water color paper that was colored with various Distress Oxide inks. I used a paint brush to drop some small dots of water on the butterflies to remove part of the color, leaving white dots. The butterflies are added with strong glue on the left side only. The right sides of the butterflies are moveable. The new greeting was stamped with Versafine Onyx black ink in the center of the partial circle.

My second card uses the new brick wall image, which I stamped with Memento black ink and then colored with copics. After die cutting the circles, the white panel was added to the kraft base. The pussy willow image was stamped on the inside with Memento Rich Cocoa ink. A Pitt pen was used to color it in.  I found a small tag in my stash so I stamped the sending you hugs greeting on it with Versafine Onyx ink and then sponged the edges with Fired Brick distress ink. Some baker's twine and a bow complete the look.

Challenges

Here's a card I created for this week's sketch challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches and Dies R Us Blog Challenge.

Here's the sketch for TMS:

The challenge at Dies are Us is to use layers.

I die cut the strawberries, colored them with distress inks, added them to the white CS after embossing it with the Swiss Dots folder and then layered it onto red CS and repeated the layers. Instead of stamping a greeting, I decided to die cut that too. All of the dies are from SB Maker's Mart Die of the month kits. The "enjoy" is from the June kit and the strawberries are from the May kit. I'm enjoying these monthly kits. They are great dies and not too expensive. It's a fun way to increase your stash of dies too.

Tropical Paradise

Hi everyone,

DRS Designs is just about to release some new images that you are going to love! My card today features the new Silhouette Palm Trees (288P) and I just know this is going to be a favorite of mine.

I started by stamping the line of palm trees (288P) with Versafine Onyx black ink onto water color paper, embossed it with clear embossing powder and then sponged on various TH Distress Oxide inks for the sea and sky. Once the inks dried I stamped the Sand, snow, water lines with VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with detail white embossing powder. The little seal and dolphin were stamped with Memento Black ink onto white CS, colored with Copics and fussy cut. I used a craft knife to cut an opening along the top of the waves so I could tuck the dolphin and seal into the water. I really liked how this turned out and was so excited I just had to create another card with this new image.

This card uses the same inks for the sponged background. I started with a strip of paper, stamped the silhouette palm trees (228P) with Versafine Onyx black ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Once the embossing cooled I sponged in the sky and sea and layered the strip onto black CS before attaching it to the larger panel which was also sponged with the same distress oxide inks. Once dried, I stamped the greeting with Versafine Onyx ink and then attached everything to a black card base.

Thanks for stopping by today. Be sure to head over to the DRS Designs on line store to check out the new images that will be released in just a couple of days!

Happy Stamping,
